“Lift Every Voice and Sing,” was written in 1899 by James Weldon Johnson (lyrics) and his brother J. Rosamond Johnson (music). First performed by 500 schoolchildren in Jacksonville, Florida, to honor President Abraham Lincoln, this hymn grew into a powerful anthem of unity, resilience, and hope. With its universal message of strength and shared humanity, it continues to inspire and unite generations worldwide.
